Philips is soon going to launch a new 49-inch gaming monitor, 498P9Z that features a super-wide LCD display. The company built this monitor for both gamers and content creators who want a lot of advanced stuff on a single screen.
The display is 1191.936 (H) x 335.232 (V) mm in dimensions and comes with a 1800R Curvature for a more immersive experience. It features a resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels which is equivalent to putting two 2560 x 1440p monitors side by side. This gives a wider area than the standard monitors making more area visible in games especially racing games.
It features a refresh rate of up to 75Hz with an HDMI cable and 165Hz with DP. So, gamers are going to see very smooth gameplay but it will need a powerful high-end graphics card like an RTX 3070 to maintain high framerates. Response time is also ideal with 4ms GtG and brightness up to 550CD/m2 that makes it DisplayHDR 400 certified.
For content creators, the display features a good 178º (H)/178º (V) viewing angle and colour gamut as NTSC 100%, sRGB 122%, Adobe RGB 89% with sRGB colour space. For protecting eyes, it is equipped with multiple technologies like LowBlue Mode, EasyRead, and Anti-glare.
Connectivity-wise, it has 1x DP 1.4 and 3x HDMI 2.0 ports. Also, there is a USB hub with a total of 6x USB ports where 2x 3.2 are for upstream and 4x 3.2 for downstream.
Pricing and availability are yet to be declared by Philips but as Techspot says, the price will be more than $1000.
