Gigabyte is offering Replace or Refund program for damaged PSUs

We already heard about the incident on Gigabyte PSUs. Gamer Nexus uploaded on their YouTube channel about Gigabyte PSUs that were exploding. However, not all PSUs were faulty. According to the survey conducted by Gamer Nexus, the GP-P750GM and GP-P850GM power supply series were the only ones affected.

During their survey, it was found that the PSU from that series are getting busted when they were put to slight load. And these PSUs are bundled on Newegg with RTX cards. Therefore, whether you need it or not you were pushed out with those PSUs.

Now, Newegg was not accepting any returns for the faulty hardware which was brought to light by Gamer Nexus. Gigabyte also not providing any solid information regarding the same due to the recent onslaught of a cyber attack on their headquarter.

However, recently Gigabyte has stepped in and issued a statement that they’ve started the process of replacing or refunding the faulty power supply units. But there are few rules that they have stated out for one to initiate the process for replacement or refund.

Before digging deep into the process of replacement or refund, let us share the main important factor. Gigabyte, as of now, is only accepting the replacement and refund for the power supplies bearing the following serial numbers:

  • Power Supply Model GP-P750GM: N20243G001301 thru SN20453G025430
  • Power Supply Model GP-P850GM: N20343G031011 thru SN20513G022635

As mentioned in the full process the details are as follows:

RMA Process:

If purchased from Authorized GIGABYTE reseller:

  1. Contact your place of purchase.
  2. Exchange or refunds are handled through your vendor/reseller.
  3. Vendor/reseller will validate product purchase AND product SN range.
  4. Customers must return the product to the reseller before an exchange or refund is issued.

If purchased from Authorized resellers that are not processing exchanges or refunds directly:

  1. Exchanges or refunds are handled by GIGABYTE.
  2. Fill out this form and the GIGABYTE team will be in touch shortly.
  3. GIGABYTE will validate purchase AND product SN range.
  4. GIGABYTE will issue RMA, and the product (with all accessories) must be received by GIGABYTE before a replacement/refund is processed. No cross-shipping.
  5. Replacement units will not be issued until the RMA has been processed by the regional GIGABYTE RMA team.

If purchased from non-authorized dealers (i.e. eBay, Amazon marketplace, private sale, etc.):

  1. Replacement only, NO refunds allowed.
  2. Fill out this form and the GIGABYTE team will be in touch shortly.
  3. GIGABYTE will validate purchase AND product SN range.
  4. GIGABYTE will issue RMA#, and the product (with all accessories) must be received by GIGABYTE before a replacement is sent. No cross-shipping.

Therefore, make sure, if you are having PSUs falling in those serial numbers, you can go ahead and proceed with the exchange promgram.
